Past Continuous Tense

Past Continuous Tense adalah struktur bahasa inggris yang penting dalam berbahasa inggris, untuk itu mari kita belajar bersama bagaimana rumus past continuous tense

A.      KALIMAT VERBAL

Rumus : They/You/We/I + Were + verb + ing

               She/It/He + was + verb + ing

       1.       Kalimat Berita (affirmative) dalam Past Continuous Tense

Contoh:

-          I were reading a book yesterday

-          They were watching tv last night

-          You were writing a letter last night

-          We were playing football two days ago

-          She was washing her clothes last week

-          He was cleaning the room yesterday

       2.       Kalimat Menyangkal (negative) dengan rumus past continuous tense

Contoh :

-          I weren’t reading a book yesterday

-          They weren’t watching tv last night

-          You weren’t reading a book last night

-          We weren’t playing football five days ago

-          She wasn’t eating her food last week

-          He wasn’t cleaning the room yesterday 

       3.       Kalimat Tanya (interrogative) dengan rumus past continuous tense

Contoh

-          Were I reading a book yesterday?

-          Were they wathing tv last night?

-          Were you writing a letter last night?

-          Were we playing football three days ago?

-          Was she washing her clothes last week?

-          Was he cleaning the room yesterday?

      B.      KALIMAT NOMINAL

             Rumus : We/They/You + were + being + bukan kata kerja

                            It/She/I/He + was +being + bukan kata kerja

             Apabila diperhatikan susunannya menggunakan to be dalam bentuk continuos tense,yang berarti bahwa    

             subyek mempunyai aktivitas yang berubah-ubah, akan tetapi karena to be-nya menggunakan was dan     

             were,maka aktivitas tersebut dilakukan pada waktu lampau.

             Contoh:

                  -He is being polite to me

                  -He was being polite to me

                  -They are being angry with me

                  -They were being angry with me

             Seperti halnya pada present continuos tense, maka apabila predikatnya tetap/tidak berubah, kita tidak boleh       menggunakan kata “being” dalam Past Continuous Tense

             Contoh :

                  -He was being a fireman (salah)

                  -He was a fireman (benar)
